From a tenant, requesting time to pay rent.
Dear Sir
I have been your tenant for some years now in this house and have never failed to pay rent when due. I am sorry to say, however, that in consequence of a variety of difficulties it is impossible for me to find the amount of the rent for this month.
I would appreciate it very much if you would allow the matter to stand over for two weeks when I hope to be able to find the full amount due, or at any rate to send something on account with the balance soon after.
