Guidelines and Rules to Write a “Letters of Apology”. English Letter Writing for Class 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 Students.

Letters of Apology

Since none of us is perfect, there are occasions when it is necessary to apologies for a mistake, error, or oversight. A letter of apology must be written promptly. If there is an explanation, devote a few sentences to it. If there is none admit it since a lame excuse will do little towards smoothing ruffled feelings. Express your regrets and assurances that such an incident will not happen again. Offer to arrange for repairs or to pay for damages. The letter should convey a sense of sincerity and co-operation on your part.

Dear Mrs. Raj

The superintendent informed us that you were annoyed by our television last night. We certainly do not want to cause you any disturbance, particularly in view of Mr. Raj’s condition. If you had called the matter to our attention immediately, we would have lowered the volume and closed the windows.

The boys are extremely interested in night baseball games, and though I do not wish to ask them to forgo their pleasures, I will see to it that they take every precaution to keep the sound from disturbing you. If, at any time, you should find our activities bothersome, please do not hesitate to let us know. We shall try to co-operate in every way we can.

Sincerely yours

Rakesh

Dear Mohan

I was heartsick when Raj told me about the accident to Sheela’s china doll. I know how long it had been in the family and how much sentimental value it had for you.

If I could replace the doll and the memories it had for you I would certainly do so. Unfortunately, that is impossible, so I have asked Ram to send up the prettiest doll in the store. I know Sheela will love her, and I hope that in time the doll will replace the old one in her affections.

Please explain to Sheela how sorry we all are.

Very cordially

Suresh

Dear Mrs. Kapoor

Satish has told me about our cat’s adventure among your daisies. I don’t know how to tell you how sorry I am, for the daisies were so lovely and I know how proud you were of them.

Nibbles is usually such a good cat that I can’t imagine what got into her yesterday. Perhaps it’s the first sign of spring. Anyway, we’ve taken measures to keep her where she can’t possibly run off again.

Unfortunately, there is no making amends for the flowers you worked on so carefully. If there is anything that can be repaired, I’d like to have our gardener see what he can do. He comes on Fridays, so if you’ll let me know what time is convenient, I will arrange to have him see you.

In the meantime, please accept a few of my begonias as a compensation. They are potted and just ready for transplanting.

Sincerely yours

Sudesh

Dear Mrs. Malhotra

I was fortunately at home yesterday when our dogs scratched Sonny.

I cleaned the scratch immediately and bandaged it, so there should be no cause for worry.

The boys were wrestling in the backyard when Papy decided to join in for fun. I guess he didn’t realise his nails were so sharp, for he is always very gentle with children.

Papy has been properly punished, and I’m sure he won’t scratch again. The boys have agreed to keep him as club mascot with the promise that any wrestling in the future will be Papy’s right.

Very sincerely

Sushma

Dear Kailash

My face has been red all morning! How can I apologise for missing our lucheon date yesterday?

You know my mind has been on Pramod’s wedding. I was so absorbed in the details of the reception that I completely forgot about our date.

Please forgive me. Let’s make it next Tuesday. I promise to tie a string around my finger so I won’t forget. Affectionately

Karnal
